Pay Per Call: A New and Innovative Way of Marketing
Most of us know what pay per click is. It is a business marketing technique where one posts ads alongside search engine results. These results are derived from searches using keywords relevant to a person’s business. In PPC advertising, a businessman assigns certain keywords to his ads and then pays for the clicks that his ads receives from search engines.
Pay per call is similar to this concept. However, in pay per call, a web surfer finds the contact number of an establishment in an advertisement that typically leads to a website. An interested surfer is then expected to call these numbers and close a business transaction with the companies that use these advertisements.
Pay per call services are intended for those businesses that do not maintain a prominent presence on the Internet. These are businesses that do not have the ability to maintain a website, and the ability to advertise themselves to the many citizens of the Internet. These pay-per-call companies rely on online listings that show their contact numbers to anyone that might be interested in their services.
Here’s how it works. These companies rely on the services of call center companies to handle inbound calls relating to their business. These call center companies do the task of addressing customer concerns.
This service, however, is not prone to abuses. Pay-per-call ads are similar to pay-per-click ads since any call that results from a pay-per-call ad is credited to the advertiser. Some webmasters may hire people may try to call the number in a Pay-per-call ad in an effort to boost their own earnings. To address these abuses, pay-per-call services have implemented a system that prevents deliberate dialing from being credited as legitimate calls. The system judges any call that lasts less than 10 seconds as a wrong number, and is thus discredited as a scam call. If the same person uses the number to cheat the system by making a call more than 10 seconds without making any significant inquiry, the system records the number and traps anyone trying to abuse the system.
