More News Reading Options with Google’s Integration of RSS Feeds
RSS feeds have been very useful for those who are into online marketing. When added to the respective websites of subscribers, the feeds can generate fresh content posted by the webmaster or website owner, which will then attract visitors and readers to check out the website. In other words, it can help boost traffic.
With the popularity of RSS feeds and to add more flexibility to their existing Google Alerts, Google will now combine these two online marketing components and shall then be added to the search results.
The RSS feeds will generate live news search results, usually those that you can actually read at Google News, one of the most widely read news websites in the world. This will enhance the ability of readers to receive news. With Google Alerts, they only have to be content with receiving news through e-mail. With the integration of RSS feeds, however, they can look forward to receiving instant and constant news updates in a variety of formats.
Moreover, the RSS feeds can be linked to Alerts.com or Web-Alerts.com, two known notification services for SMS messages. This means that even if you’re not physically connected to your PC, as long as the RSS feeds are configured to your mobile phone, you can still receive the latest news and information.
Coming In Too Late
As huge and as innovative Google is, it’s not actually the first search engine to incorporate RSS feeds to their list of services. Yahoo and even MSN Live have already done so and experienced stable success with their approach. Yahoo even has an aggregate or mashup services, which they call Yahoo Pipes. It has the ability to carry not just one but as many feeds as the user or subscriber likes.
Nevertheless, with Google RSS feeds, they may able to not only add more flexibility to their Google Alerts, but they can also come head to head with other search engines who are already using them.
